So, about this time last year, the GHOP was wrapping up (I came second for SilverStripe). Leslie just announce to the GHOP discussion list that the GHOP will be running again at the end of this year. Which is good for me, as I'll still be eligible to partake in it. Though there's unlikely to be a Matt to bug into checking my tasks this year. Maybe Andy or Will instead?

The partition map on my external HDD had something funky happen to it, so I lost my Time Machine partition. I am currently waiting for it to be added back, and, hopefully, still have all my backups. Though Disk Utility is taking its time, so I don't think it's going to successfully add the partition. Not good. I want Ludicrous Speed back.

Windows 7 (NT 6.1) installation fails. It can't find itself when I boot from it via FireWire. When I boot it from an internal DVD drive, I get a nice prompt telling me to select DVD-boot type, but the keyboard doesn't work, so I can't give it any input. Fail.

I've returned from the NZOI 2009 training camp. I'm in the short list for the team that'll travel to the IOI later this year. I'm going to put some work in this time.

I can't be bothered naming this post. So you get the tasty default one.

I have problems with the connection between my internal keyboard and trackpad and whatever it is that they're connected to. It made Growl messages (thanks to HardwareGrowler) like:

appear.

So I went and bought myself a shiny new Apple Wireless Keyboard and a horrible M$ branded wireless mouse. That stupid mouse has already gone through two sets of batteries. The standard, budget ones it came with and some shiny, silver ones I got when those died. Compared to my keyboard which is still running fine off the three shiny silver ones Apple gave me.

Means I'm posting this just with a keyboard, so I have no idea if I'll be able to stick in the image. I'll try though. And stupid TinyMCE seems to like stealing my tabs, making it even harder to tab off onto the button I need to use to insert an image. BAH!

The keyboard isn't extended, and doesn't have the keypad as fn of some other keys, so I can't use mouse keys either.

At least I can still do most things with a keyboard, but having a mouse makes it so much easier, especially getting out of this content field.

Is about now. I think. 23:59:60 on 31/12/2008. Though I'm cheating with the timing on this, by sticking it at 00:00:00 01/01/2009 as PHP doesn't seem to have accounted for it yet.

So, the Phoenix won on Friday. I was in the Fever Zone with Wumbo with 10 minutes to go, so we took our tops off. We got on TV, then YouTube. We also got on celebrating Smeltz' goal :)

Now, lets see if I can get this to embed properly. Stupid YouTube.

So, I'm working in Silicon Welly, on Level 3 of Symes de Silva House, Courtney Place, 2 floors below SilverStripe. They've kinda run out of space, so I've been shoved into the corner, next to the fridge.

And since I've got no idea how to embed a movie, this requires the HTML5 <video> tag. So, Safari 3.2+ and I think some version of FireFox has it. As does Opera.

Today marks two years of something for me. It feels a lot longer though. The post I made two years ago may have some relevance (it probably does) to that something. I had to find it myself, so you can as well. Though I did know what it was called. And have database access. All you've got is that archive thingy that doesn't seem to work on all pages. Should moan to someone about that.
