Safari Extensions » Facebook SSL extension for Safari
![]()
This extension forces Safari to use the SSL version of Facebook. When visiting Facebook without SSL, you should be redirected to the SSL-enabled page (https instead of http). It also rewrites links so that they are SSL URLs.
Current version: 1.0.3
Download here (Safari only)
Please note: due to the way this extension works (due to limitaions in the browser), there will be at least one request to the non-SSL version before the SSL redirect can happen. Also, due to the way Facebook handles logins, directly after logging in, there will always be a request to the non-SSL version that includes sending and receving session cookies which can be hijacked. If you suspect that someone has hijacked these cookies, you can always log them out by visiting this page and clicking on the "End Activity" links under the "Account Security" heading.
It has been suggested that future releases of WebKit (the rendering engine Safari and Chrome use that provides the extension capabilites) will allow enforcing SSL without needing to request the non-SSL version at all. This extension will be updated to use that method once it makes it into a public release of Safari.
