Geek Day 3 - What does your day job involve?

Posted by Simon Welsh | 5 November 2010 | Comments (1)

I'm actually writing this while at my day job.

If I went by what I'm doing now, my day job would be writing blog posts and drinking Coke while watching that guy over there playing StarCraft 2 while the electrians (I think) tidy up our "ceiling" cables and stick in a cable tray by drilling into the support beams and really annoying the SilverStripe designers and marketing staff.

Though, I'm currently not tracking my time so it can't really be called a job. What my job actually involves is far more fun than writing for the masses :)

I am a web developer employed by Social Capital and hired out to RentBox (or I think that's what the company's called). As the "lead" (read: only) developer, I get to do everything. Server management, PHP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS (to an extent. We bring a designer in every so often), feeding the hamsters, getting frustrated when the boss changes things (he broke the same form three times in a single day). That sort of stuff.

What the company actually does is a sekret, so I can't tell you. Which makes this a lot easier to write :)
