They really should stop failing in that way. @vodafoneNZ hasn't failed like that and has been tweeting for lots longer :)

The fail I saw was the grocer's apostrophe in 'photos'.

That's more a twitter fail - the mobile interface doesn't have a counter and accepts strings that are too long
